Baseball Recap: Gadsden Takes a Loss

Gadsden extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 7-9. They lost 8-1 to the Las Cruces Bulldawgs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldawgs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Tuesday.

As for Las Cruces, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6. The result was nothing new for the Bulldawgs, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Las Cruces' part, they gave Gracin Kuchler-Poe the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Kuchler-Poe a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Las Cruces let Aaron Alvarado and Hunter Parmeter run wild. Alvarado went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI, while Parmeter got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Borunda, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Las Cruces beat Gadsden by a score of 8-0 later that day.
