Basketball Recap: Andre Gyabaah Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat West Davidson

Lexington won the last time they faced West Davidson and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Lexington Yellowjackets were the clear victor by a 67-41 margin over the West Davidson Dragons. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Dragons are ranked 644th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lexington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andre Gyabaah, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahzel Ewart, who went 5 for 7 en route to 10 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Lexington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Lexington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points per game. As for West Davidson, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

It'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Lexington Yellowjackets challenge the Salisbury Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Salisbury's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 17 matchups. As for West Davidson, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-46 win against Wheatmore on the 5th.
