It was a good run, but IMG Academy Royal unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Barron Collier Cougars. The Ascenders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Richie Alvarez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kanta Miyabe was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

IMG Academy Royal's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Barron Collier, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
