Softball Recap: Chittenango Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

Chittenango never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Jordan-Elbridge Eagles with a sharp 12-0 win. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Lauren Machan, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Jordan-Elbridge off the board. Machan has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on MacKenna Palko, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Alivia Cavotta was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Chittenango kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matches.

Chittenango pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Jordan-Elbridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chittenango will welcome Westhill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.25 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Jordan-Elbridge, they will be playing at home against Skaneateles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
