Baseball Recap: Burges Triumphs

While Burges's win against Andress wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Burges sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Andress on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Victor Aguirre was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Burges' victory bumped their record up to 6-9-2. As for Andress, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 8-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burges will challenge El Paso at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Andress, they will take on Chapin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapin has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.9 runs per game on average), something Andress will no doubt try to take advantage of.
