Basketball Recap: Covenant Academy's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Covenant Academy had won two straight games and Ryan Stevens did his part to make it three on Friday. Covenant Academy put the hurt on the David Emanuel Academy Eagles with a sharp 53-31 win thanks in part to Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Asa Starks, who posted three points and four steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024.

David Emanuel Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ethan Fields, who had 13 points along with seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Clayton Hood, who scored nine points and five rebounds.

Covenant Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for David Emanuel Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covenant Academy will challenge Central Georgia Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for David Emanuel Academy, they will take on Thomas Jefferson Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
