Hanahan lost against West Ashley back in August, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hanahan Hawks fell just short of the West Ashley Wildcats by a score of 2-1.

Hanahan took a 1-0 lead headed into the second set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-22, 15-11.

Despite the loss, Hanahan still got an impressive performance from Meilani Wijetunga, who had 11 digs. Wijetunga is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season.

West Ashley found their leader in underclassman Mason Toporek, who had six digs and 25 assists.

Hanahan's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-2. As for West Ashley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4-1.

Hanahan will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cathedral Academy at 6:30 p.m. The last three games Hanahan has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for West Ashley, they will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Fort Dorchester at 6:30 p.m.
