The Lake Catholic Cougars will head out to  challenge the Mentor Cardinals  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. Lake Catholic will come into the  matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Lake Catholic is headed in fresh off scoring the most  runs they have   all season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Elyria Catholic on Wednesday, sneaking past  12-11. The pitching woes were  uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this  contest were averaging 3.29  runs allowed.

 Shea Sievers was a  major factor no matter where he played. He  tossed 1.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  earning one  RBI, two  runs,  and one  stolen base.
 In other batting news,  Brayden Mann was  excellent,  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances with two  runs and one  RBI.  Danny Locker also deserves some recognition as  he  brought in his first  RBI of the season.
Meanwhile,  it was a proper cat-fight when Mentor took on Cleveland Heights on Friday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by  an  11-2 margin over the Tigers. The  win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.
Like Lake Catholic, Mentor also got a great game from a two-way player:  Pat Collins. On the mound, he  tossed five innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits. Collins was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 In other pitching news,  Johnny Prentice looked comfortable as he  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits.
 Back at the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Tyson Cendrowski, who  went 2-for-3 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.  Austin Vanhuss was another key player,  going 3-for-4 with three  RBI, one  triple,  and one  run.
 Lake Catholic pushed their record up to 7-0 with the  victory, which was their ninth straight  at home dating back to last season. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Mentor, their record is now 8-1.
 Lake Catholic might still be hurting after the  11-1 loss they got from Mentor  in their previous matchup  back in May of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
