Basketball Game Preview: Eisenhower Tigers vs. Maize Eagles

Eisenhower is 2-8 against Maize since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, both will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Eisenhower challenged Andover Central two weeks ago. The game between Eisenhower and Andover Central didn't end well, with Eisenhower falling 56-42. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Eisenhower got top-tier performance from Payton Blue, who went 9 of 18 en route to 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Blue is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Best, who posted eight points in addition to eight steals and five assists.

Even though they lost, Eisenhower was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Maize came into Friday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 45-34 victory over Haysville Campus two weeks ago. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Maize's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Eisenhower, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.

Eisenhower didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Maize when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 38-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eisenhower since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
