Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Union City's Winning Streak

Union City dropped their record down to 12-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Cochranton Cardinals by a score of 4-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Bears' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Kaegann Gregor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Union City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Tingley, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Cochranton, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Union City since May 15, 2017.

On Cochranton's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jaidin Frayer gave up three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

As of now, neither Union City nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
