Basketball Game Preview: Box Elder Bees vs. Salem Hills Skyhawks

The Box Elder Bees will venture away from home to take on the Salem Hills Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Box Elder has given up an average of 52.8 points per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Box Elder was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to Roy.

Salem Hills not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 13th (when they won 87-52). They blew past Spanish Fork 76-55. The Skyhawks haven't had any issues with the Dons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Box Elder better focus on containing Blake Scott and Tanner Huff as the pair were huge in Salem Hills' win. Scott went 6-for-12 to rack up 16 points and eight assists, while Huff shot 50% from the field en route to 18 points and three steals. Those 18 points gave Huff a new career-high. Steven Taylor was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Salem Hills was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They are 11-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Salem Hills' win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Box Elder, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Box Elder didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Salem Hills in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, but they still walked away with a 61-55 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Skyhawks' Derek Burton, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 boards.
