Softball Recap: Ida Baker Bulldogs vs. North Fort Myers Red Knights
Ida Baker had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it seven. They came up short against the North Fort Myers Red Knights, falling 19-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 back in March.
As for North Fort Myers, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Considering they have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For North Fort Myers' part, Abigail Hynes was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-6. That's the most hits Hynes has posted since back in February. Mia Lane was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Looking ahead, Ida Baker will face off against Fort Myers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Green Wave have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for North Fort Myers, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-1 victory against Mariner on the 15th.
