            Baseball Recap: Calais Blue Devils vs. Washington Academy Raiders        
        
		
        
        
            Calais had lost three straight on the road, but  on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-8 to make it four. They came up short against  the Washington Academy Raiders, falling  11-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  10-0  back in May.
 Calais saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Chayeden Newell, who  went 2-for-3 with one  double and one  RBI.
As for Washington Academy, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record  this season. The result was nothing new for Washington Academy, who have now won 12 games by six  runs or more  so far this season.
On Washington Academy's side,  Parker Cates was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Cates has been consistent recently: he hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI. That  home run was  his first of the season.
 In other batting news, Washington Academy got a  massive  performance out of  Jayden Mahar, who  fired off two  home runs and five  RBI while going 2-for-3. Those  five  RBI gave  Mahar a new career-high.  Colby Moholland was another key player,  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances with one  home run and two  runs.
As of now, neither Calais nor Washington Academy have any future games scheduled.
