Preview: Wingfield Falcons vs. Lawrence County Cougars
The Wingfield Falcons on the road again on Monday and play against the Lawrence County Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Wingfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Wingfield was able to grind out a solid win over Richland, taking the game 54-43. That looming 54-43 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Wingfield yet this season.
Wingfield can attribute much of their success to Martavius Bennett, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Tyler Arrington, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Lawrence County pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to Purvis. Lawrence County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wingfield's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-16. As for Lawrence County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
