Keana Cooper made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jordan Pe?a was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Shelby Townsend, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Sunset always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nelson only posted an OBP of .304.

Meanwhile, Sherwood hadn't done well against Canby recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bowmen blew past the Cougars 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Bowmen, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sherwood pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sunset, their record is now 9-1.

Sunset skirted past Sherwood 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Apollos repeat their success, or do the Bowmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
