Basketball Game Preview: Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets vs. Rocky Mount Gryphons

Roanoke Rapids is 0-8 against Rocky Mount since January of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets will get right back to it and host the Rocky Mount Gryphons at 6:00 p.m.

Roanoke Rapids is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They fell 49-39 to Franklinton.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mount waltzed into their match on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 67-21 win over the Bulldogs. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-11.

Roanoke Rapids better keep an eye on Kira Jones. She was instrumental in Rocky Mount's win, going 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points along with six steals and three blocks. Jones' evening made it 13 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keysha Mizzell, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points and four steals.

Rocky Mount was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nash Central only racked up three assists.

Rocky Mount's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.0 points per game. As for Roanoke Rapids, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
