Baseball Recap: Union County Fightin' Tigers vs. Liberty County Bulldogs
With a playoff game on the line, Union County rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Liberty County Bulldogs 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Union County also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2021.
Erick Lasseter and Ayden Androlevich made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lasseter pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. Meanwhile, Androlevich pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lasseter has been consistent recently: he hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. At bat, Lasseter got on base in all five of his plate appearances with a double, while Androlevich scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Like Union County, Liberty County also got a great game from a two-way player: Gavin Jerkins. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Jerkins was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Jerkins wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Roddenberry, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Union County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-13. As for Liberty County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.
Union County will challenge Lafayette on Saturday. Lafayette will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Union County surely won't give up without a fight. Liberty County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
