Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Halifax Vikings vs. Weldon Chargers

The Northwest Halifax Vikings just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Weldon Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Northwest Halifax didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Northampton County, but they still walked away with a 37-33 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Weldon on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Rocky Mount Prep out of the water with a 55-24 final score. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 29 points or more this season.

Northwest Halifax's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points over those games. As for Weldon, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Things could have been worse for Northwest Halifax, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-35 loss to Weldon when the teams last played back in January. Can Northwest Halifax avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
