Basketball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Takes a Loss

Sunrise Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a 88-30 loss at the hands of the Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Knights are ranked ninth).

Mater Academy East Las Vegas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lonnie Bass, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. Bass is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Williams, who posted seven points in addition to nine assists and four steals.

Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6.

Sunrise Mountain will face off against Faith Lutheran at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they will square off against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
