Volleyball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central and Alexandria squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Central had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Cubs. That makes it the first time this season the Wildcats have let down their home crowd.

Central was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Alexandria work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18.

Loss or not, Central got some senior leadership from Anna Neal and Caroline Butler. Neal had 15 digs and three assists, while Butler had 19 assists and three digs. Butler has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more assists the last four times she's played.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 39-16. As for Alexandria, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 38-7 record this season.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alexandria, they have already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against St. John Paul II on the 23rd.
