Basketball Recap: Alexandria Comes Up Short

Alexandria lost against Jacksonville back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Alexandria Valley Cubs took a blow against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles, falling 63-24. The Valley Cubs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-13.

Jacksonville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexis Phillips, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds. Phillips is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jayci Taylor, who went 8 for 13 en route to 19 points.

Alexandria dropped their record down to 10-16 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Jacksonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Alexandria and White Plains will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Jacksonville, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Saks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Jacksonville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.
