Football Recap: Oglethorpe County Patriots vs. Washington-Wilkes Tigers
Oglethorpe County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell just short of the Washington-Wilkes Tigers by a score of 20-17. The Patriots lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in October of 2015, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 35-7 score last time.
Washington-Wilkes was led to victory by Shariq Meadows and Tamari Curry. Meadows rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown, while Curry rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown. Meadows got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible71 yards.
Oglethorpe County's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Washington-Wilkes, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2.
Oglethorpe County will take on Laney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Washington-Wilkes, they will face off against McCormick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
