Baseball Recap: Shenango Has No Trouble Against Northgate

Shenango won against Wilmington last Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Wildcats blew past the Northgate Flames 10-0. Considering the Wildcats have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Joey Campoli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Ross, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases and three RBI. Dominic Dando was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Shenango always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northgate only posted an OBP of .238.

Shenango pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Northgate, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Shenango will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Flames: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
