Independence took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Lebanon Trail, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights' defense stepped up to hand the Trail Blazers a 1-0 shutout on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Centennial has been on a difficult stretch since their win on January 22. They fell 2-0 to Heritage on Thursday.

Independence's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5-1 and their overall record up to 3-10-3. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5-3.
