Basketball Recap: Reid Johannes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Porter Ridge over Providence

Porter Ridge was the 71-57 winner over Providence when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Porter Ridge Pirates fell to the Providence Panthers 57-51. The Pirates just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reid Johannes, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ziggy Harris, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Porter Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Porter Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Providence, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.

Porter Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 82-58 defeat against Forest Hills on the 28th. As for Providence, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-52 loss against Ardrey Kell on the 28th.
