Softball Recap: Altavista Comes Up Short

If Altavista was riding high fresh off their 11-3 takedown of Gretna on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Colonels fell just short of the Nelson County Governors by a score of 10-9 on Friday. The Colonels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Governors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Altavista has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Nelson County, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Altavista will take on Lunenburg Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Colonels surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nelson County, they will challenge Buffalo Gap at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Governors will need to watch out since the Bison have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
