Baseball Game Preview: Falmouth Navigators vs. Massabesic Mustangs

The Falmouth Navigators will challenge the Massabesic Mustangs at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. Falmouth is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Falmouth had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Bonny Eagle on Thursday. The Navigators' pitcher stepped up to hand the Scots a 7-0 shutout.

Bonny Eagle's batters probably weren't too happy with Jacoby Porter, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up two walks). Porter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Thomas Healey was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in June of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Simmons, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, Massabesic narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Deering 2-0. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Deering's batters probably weren't too happy with Brady Batson, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up zero walks).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Bryan, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Falmouth's win bumped their record up to 9-4-1. As for Massabesic, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7-1.

Falmouth took their win against Massabesic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3 score. Will the Navigators repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
