Soccer Game Preview: Rio Vista vs. Mesa Verde

The Rio Vista Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Mesa Verde Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mesa Verde took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Rio Vista, who comes in off a win.

Rio Vista took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Golden Sierra with a sharp 11-1 win. It was an even better day for David Torres as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, Mesa Verde came up short against Highlands on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rio Vista's victory bumped their record up to 3-6-1. As for Mesa Verde, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5-2.

Rio Vista suffered a grim 7-2 defeat to Mesa Verde in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rio Vista was down 4-1.
