Football Game Preview: West St. John Rams vs. Mangham Dragons

The West St. John Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Mangham Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West St. John is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past General Trass to the tune of 50-6. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

It was another big night for Kalon Gardner, who rushed for 166 yards and two scores on only 14 carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards and one touchdown. West St. John is undefeated when Gardner posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 3-5 otherwise.

West St. John's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Za'Kyrin Howard was the leader with two sacks. He has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 20 times he's played.

Meanwhile, Mangham was fully in charge two weeks ago, breezing past Delhi Charter 49-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Dragons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Gators are ranked 240th).

Mangham's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for West St. John, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

West St. John was dealt a bruising 40-6 defeat at the hands of Mangham when the teams last played back in November of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Rams were down 24-0.
