Softball Recap: Pioneer Valley Wins Going Away Against Fowler

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pioneer Valley walked away with it. They blew past the Fowler Redcats 10-3 on Tuesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Ciena Acosta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pioneer Valley let Kamila Enriquez and Natalia Rocha run wild. Enriquez went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Rocha went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Enriquez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mila Dolores, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pioneer Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Pioneer Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Fowler, with the defeat, they broke their 16-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-5-1.

Coming up, Pioneer Valley will head out on the road to face off against Kerman at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.6, the Lions 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Fowler does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
