Basketball Game Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Sanger West Hornets

McLane has gone 5-0 against Sanger West recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The McLane Highlanders are taking a road trip to challenge the Sanger West Hornets at 6:30 p.m. McLane is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.

McLane is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Madera just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell to the Coyotes 48-43.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Demetrius Simon, who posted 11 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyvon Burcher, who scored 13 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Sanger West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt an 85-47 loss at the hands of Justin Garza. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 766th, while the Guardians are ranked 317th).

McLane's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Sanger West, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

Everything came up roses for McLane against Sanger West when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-33 victory. Does McLane have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sanger West turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
