After a string of four wins, Nicolet's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cedarburg Bulldogs. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

James Wirth was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Wirth wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ari Schupper, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Nicolet's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Cedarburg, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-11 record.

Coming up, Nicolet will take on West Bend East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are facing the Suns at the right time seeing as the Suns are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Cedarburg, they will face off against West Bend West at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
