The Glenn Rockets are taking a road trip to face off against the Franklin Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Glenn let Dearborn stack four runs on them in the seventh inning on Saturday but luckily Glenn prevailed anyway. The Rockets narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pioneers 6-5. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 15, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Meanwhile, Franklin entered their tilt with Walled Lake Central on Saturday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 10-5.
Brendan Bache made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Franklin let Luke Ogden and Nick Cox run wild. Ogden went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Cox went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Ogden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Ruhl, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Franklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .471 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Franklin's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Glenn, their record is now 6-22.
Glenn might still be hurting after the 13-5 defeat they got from Franklin in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
