Softball Preview: Lee Park Prep Knights vs. Charity Christian Cardinals

After two games on the road, Lee Park Prep is heading back home. They will take on the Charity Christian Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Charity Christian put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy an 11-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Charity Christian.

Mattie Laflin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Laflin has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Laflin was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-3 with three runs, a triple, and a double.

In other batting news, Charity Christian got a massive performance out of Molly Carpenter, who went 1-for-1 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI. Ally Oquinn was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Lee Park Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Charity Christian, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
