Basketball Recap: Aztec Victorious

Aztec won the last time they faced Bayfield, and Jazzlyn Gomez did her part to make sure it happened again. The Aztec Tigers were the clear victor by a 42-19 margin over the Bayfield Wolverines on Thursday thanks in part to Gomez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season.

Another player making a difference was Camila Dominguez, who posted two points along with nine steals and five boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Aztec's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Bayfield, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Aztec has already played their next contest, a 58-44 defeat against Piedra Vista on the 14th. As for Bayfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-20 win against Telluride on the 11th.
