Preview: Rensselaer Central Bombers vs. Lowell Red Devils

Rensselaer Central is 6-0 against Lowell since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Rensselaer Central Bombers will head out on the road to face off against the Lowell Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Rensselaer Central is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.

Rensselaer Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season. They blew past South Newton, posting a 76-13 victory at home. Rensselaer Central's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Rensselaer Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Van meter led the charge by scoring 16 points along with four steals. The matchup was Van meter's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Courtney Mathew was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lowell's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chesterton. Lowell has struggled against Chesterton recently, as their match on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Lowell's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elysia Laub, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals, and Bre Kidd who scored eight points along with three steals. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.

Rensselaer Central pushed their record up to 14-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Lowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Rensselaer Central have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.1 threes per game. It's a different story for Lowell, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 threes per game. Given Rensselaer Central's sizeable advantage in that area, Lowell will need to find a way to close that gap.

Everything came up roses for Rensselaer Central against Lowell when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 67-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rensselaer Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
