Sharyland is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Rowe is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Sharyland Rattlers will welcome the Rowe Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Sharyland 2.1, Rowe 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Sharyland is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Weslaco just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. While the Rattlers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 4-0 in the first period.
Roy Rodriguez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Luis Balderas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Rowe's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let McAllen get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Warriors have posted against the Bulldogs since March 17, 2022.
Javier Garcia and JC Garza Jr. made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Garcia didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Garza Jr. tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garcia has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Garcia went 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI, while Garza Jr. scored a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Leon, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Matthew Garza, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Rowe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Rowe has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. Sharyland's loss dropped their record down to 12-2-2.
Sharyland's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Sharyland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Rowe, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Sharyland continue to outrun the ball?
Sharyland couldn't quite get it done against Rowe when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Will Sharyland have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
