Football Recap: Talan Rush Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Claremore

Collinsville and Claremore pushed the score to 35-34 the last time they played Claremore, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Cardinals never let the Zebras get on the board and left with a 24-0 win. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Collinsville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Talan Rush, who picked up 109 receiving yards and one score. Those 109 receiving yards gave Rush a new career-high.

Collinsville didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Claremore to a completion percentage of just 48.1%. The Cardinals hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.48 or higher in three consecutive games.

Collinsville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points over those games. As for Claremore, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Collinsville will face off against Pryor at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Claremore, they have already played their next matchup, a 58-0 victory against Memorial on the 23rd.
