Softball Game Preview: St. Martin Yellow Jackets vs. D'Iberville Warriors

The St. Martin Yellow Jackets will square off against the D'Iberville Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Martin is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, St. Martin came up short against Ocean Springs and fell 14-10.

DKennedi Jenkins and Mia Boney stepped up to the plate in a big way. Jenkins scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Boney scored a run while going 3-for-5. Those hits marked the first that Jenkins got this season. Emma Claire Elmore was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, D'Iberville didn't have quite enough to beat Columbia on Monday and fell 3-2.

Emerson Hall was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Hall was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

St. Martin's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for D'Iberville, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-12.

D'Iberville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Martin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for D'Iberville, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain St. Martin's hitters?

St. Martin came out on top in a nail-biter against D'Iberville in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Yellow Jackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
