Basketball Recap: Max Cruz's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pamlico Christian Academy over Gramercy Christian

Pamlico Christian Academy suffered their closest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Gramercy Christian Warriors by a score of 57-55. The Mariners were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 47-38.

Pamlico Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Cruz, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Cruz has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trent Gaskins, who posted 12 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Diego De Hoyos, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Pamlico Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Gramercy Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pamlico Christian Academy will face off against Unity Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pamlico Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Unity Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Gramercy Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Jacksonville Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
