Recap: Beaver Island Islanders vs. Mackinac Island Lakers
Even though the Beaver Island Islanders have not done well against the Mackinac Island Lakers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Beaver Island managed a 42-38 win over Mackinac Island. For Beaver Island, this counts as revenge for the 40-35 loss Mackinac Island walked away with the last time they faced one another on Friday.
Several Lakers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lakelyn Bunker, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bunker has scored all season. Madison Gamble was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Beaver Island now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mackinac Island, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Beaver Island will head out on the road to take on Big Bay de Noc at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Mackinac Island will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nah Tah Wahsh at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Nah Tah Wahsh is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
