Softball Recap: Coleman Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Coleman had lost five straight, but after bumping their record up to 7-11 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Oconto Falls Panthers, sneaking past 10-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Kara Goddard was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Wyss, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base.

As for Oconto Falls, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

On Oconto Falls' side, Katelyn Kurek put in work no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Kurek a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Amelia Danielczak was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Delaney McNichols, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Coleman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oconto Falls, they will face off against Waupaca at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
