Softball Recap: Lisle Triumphs

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Lisle nor St. Edward made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Lions skirted past the Green Wave 4-3. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 2-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Megan Bradley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.7 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Bradley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Erin Bradley, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Emily Bieniasz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Lisle's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for St. Edward, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Lisle will face off against Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Edward, they will square off against Aurora Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Green Wave will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
