Basketball Game Preview: Mauldin Mavericks vs. J.L. Mann Patriots

The Mauldin Mavericks will head out on the road to challenge the J.L. Mann Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mauldin is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Hillcrest: they outscored them in every quarter. Mauldin put the hurt on Hillcrest with a sharp 65-39 victory on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mavericks have posted since December 6, 2024.

Meanwhile, J.L. Mann was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 81-77 to Greenville. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Red Raiders are ranked third).

J.L. Mann's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Mauldin, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.

Mauldin came up short against J.L. Mann in their previous matchup last Friday, falling 71-63. Can Mauldin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
