Basketball Recap: Callie Mcwilliams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Shelby over Centralia

South Shelby entered their game against Centralia on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The South Shelby Cardinals fell just short of the Centralia Panthers by a score of 44-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cardinals have suffered against the Panthers since January 27, 2017.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Callie Mcwilliams, who posted 15 points along with five assists and four steals. Mcwilliams' big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Belle Roush was another key player, on her way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

South Shelby's loss dropped their record down to 23-3. As for Centralia, the victory was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-1.

South Shelby does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Centralia, they will take on Hallsville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
