Basketball Recap: Jaden Douglas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Baptist Hill over Cross

Baptist Hill lost against Cross back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Baptist Hill Bobcats took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cross Trojans. The Bobcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaden Douglas, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Douglas has been hot, having posted ten or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Travone McFadden, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Baptist Hill was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cross only racked up six assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lavell Joyner, who posted 15 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Wright, who earned ten points and five steals.

Baptist Hill's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-10. As for Cross, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Baptist Hill will challenge Palmetto Scholars Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Baptist Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season. As for Cross, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-25 victory against Lowcountry Leadership on the 20th.
