The Williston Red Devils will face off against the Bell Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Williston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Williston came up short against Vanguard and fell 9-5. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.
Williston saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Martin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, everything went Bell's way against Riverside Christian on Tuesday as Bell made off with a 13-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Wranglers: they've now won five in a row.
Jackson Philman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Philman was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Lopez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Brandon Aguilar was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Bell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Williston's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Bell, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Williston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .496. However, it's not like Bell struggles in that department as they've averaged .488. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Williston was able to grind out a solid victory over Bell in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 4-0. Will Williston repeat their success, or does Bell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
