Football Game Preview: Sylvan Hills Bears vs. Sheridan Yellowjackets + Official Tickets

The Sylvan Hills Bears will challenge the Sheridan Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Sylvan Hills is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arkansas' top teams: Jonesboro, who was ranked 21st at the time (Sylvan Hills was ranked 16th). The Bears walked away with a 49-42 win over the Hurricane on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Meanwhile, Sheridan came up short against Marion on Friday and fell 61-51. The loss continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost six in a row.

Sylvan Hills will have to contain Zay Stephens as he made an impact in Sheridan's last game. He rushed for 218 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 44 receiving yards. Stephens showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 58 yards. Dylan Smith was another key player, picking up 181 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Sylvan Hills' victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Sheridan, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Sylvan Hills suffered a grim 65-41 defeat to Sheridan when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stephens, who rushed for 214 yards and three scores while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 94 receiving yards. Now that the Bears know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
