Basketball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

If Monticello was riding high fresh off their 53-11 takedown of Goochland last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monticello Mustangs fell 48-36 to the William Monroe Dragons on Friday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for William Monroe, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monticello won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Nelson County at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for William Monroe, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Broadway at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
