Basketball Recap: Spring Valley Takes a Loss

Spring Valley lost against Colfax back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cardinals lost to the Vikings at home by a 62-48 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Vikings are ranked 71st).

Colfax had a senior duo take command as Sierra Shipman shot 43% from the field to rack up 21 points along with five boards and four steals and Jordyn Bowe almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Shipman. Another player making a difference was Brynn Sikora, who posted 12 points and seven boards.

Spring Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Colfax, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Cumberland at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Colfax, they will welcome Bloomer at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Blackhawks have now posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
